& Literacy
Ministry of Human Resource

Government of India
Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi –

Sir,
Sub: - Enhancement
of Medical Allowance of Teachers in Andaman and Nicobar Islands – reg.
Your kind attention is drawn to
the letter No. 7-3/99-UTI dated 23rd September 2002 of the
Department of Secondary Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Government of India, New Delhi enhancing the Fixed Medical
Allowance from Rs.15/- to Rs.75/- per month for the Teachers working in all
Union Territories. Eventhough more than thirteen (13) years have passed since
the above revision and the cost of medicines and medical treatments have
increased manifold, the rate of Fixed Medical Allowance of Teachers has not yet
been enhanced to meet the escalating cost.
It is reported that the Under
Secretary to Government of India, MHRD, had asked the comments of Andaman &
Nicobar Administration in this regard in the month of July 2012 and the Andaman
& Nicobar Administration has sent reply to the comments as sought by the
MHRD. But still no favourable orders have been issued by the Ministry enhancing
the Fixed Medical Allowance of Teachers working in Andaman & Nicobar
islands.
It is requested that immediate
action may be taken to enhance the fixed medical Allowance of the Teachers of
Andaman & Nicobar Islands to atleast Rs.1000/- per month (at par with the
Fixed Medical Allowance of Pensioners) in view of the situation as mentioned
above.
Awaiting early action.
Yours faithfully,
(M. Krishnan)
