 HOMAGE

Comrade C. H. Balamohan (74) a veteran and also founder of the Govt Employees Federation in  the Union territory of Puduchery, passed away on 8th May in Mahe He had been in the forefront of the Employees movement as soon as he joined Service in 1969.

He led many Struggles of the Govt Employees and also led many movements for the cause of People in the territory.

He was arrested and tortured during Emergency and was in Prison till it was lifted after the Elections in 1977. Again for the leadership and Participation in the country wide Strike on 19th January 1982 he was victimised and Jailed. He led many successful struggle s of different sections of Govt. Employees including Anganwadi workers. It is only in Puducherry, Anganwadi workers were declared as Govt Employees. Even after retirement he was active in the movement despite health problems.

His body was brought to Puduchery and various leaders including Chief Minister and other Political leaders paid homage. Massive  Participation of People from all the sections of Society participated in the funeral procession and a condolence meeting was held after cremation.
